The Los Angeles Dodgers played the final game of a four-game set today against the Chicago Cubs looking to even up the series. Julio Urias made his second MLB start and didn’t fare too well. Through five innings of work, he allowed six runs (5 earned) off eight hits while striking out four. He gave up three home runs in his outing.
The bullpen was solid. JP Howell allowed one home run and no outs but everyone else did well once again.
The offense was really stagnant for the Dodgers. They totaled only three hits in nine innings. Trayce Thompson squared up a ball to take it out for a homer, the Dodgers only home run of the night.
It was disappointing to see Urias struggle but, he’s still learning and most of his stuff looks really good. Asking him to pitch against two of the toughest offenses in the league, away from Dodgers stadium, is tough as well. He will certainly make a great pitcher in the future, and should live up to the hype.
Losing this series was hard, but the Dodgers played tough against the Cubs. Tomorrow, the Dodgers will start a new series with the Atlanta Braves at home. Kenta Maeda will start against Julio Teheran.
