San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is all set to go undefeated as a starter.
The 49ers season has practically been a wash. New General Manager John Lynch and new Head Coach Kyle Shanahan got little production out of their team under ex-QB Brian Hoyer. However, late in the season, San Francisco traded with the New England Patriots for their savior, Jimmy Garoppolo.
Since joining the Niners Garoppolo is 4-0. Dating back to his time filling in for a suspended Tom Brady, Garoppolo is now 6-0 as a starter in the NFL. With each week and each win, Jimmy G is looking more and more like the QB of the future for the Faithful.
There’s also already talk of a multi-year contract extension for Garoppolo in San Francisco. The quarterback was acquired from the Patriots for a 2018 second-round pick and at just 26-years-old looks like he can lead the 49ers back to relevance in the NFL.
This Sunday, Garoppolo has a chance to remain undefeated as a starting QB. He’ll lead the Niners into L.A. to face the NFC West champion Los Angeles Rams, however, the Rams will likely rest key players to prepare for their Wild Card playoff appearance either Jan. 6 or Jan. 7.
Because key guys will sit (it’s still unclear who), San Francisco’s chances of victory will increase. That means the legend of Jimmy G will probably grow, and he’ll end the year 7-0 as a starter.
That’s a record the 49ers can certainly be confident about when it comes time to re-sign Garoppolo to an extension, and it’s proof they made the right move to go after the kid.
