Kyle Kuzma keeps winning. This time it’s not a trophy or a shoutout from Kevin Durant but a shoe deal with Nike.
First Kyle Kuzma introduced himself to the basketball world by having a standout Summer League showing. He averaged 21.9 ppg on 51.4 percent shooting from the field and 48 percent from three. Kuzma quickly became a Laker favorite being just as dynamic if not more than Lonzo Ball.
In the Summer League championship, Kuzma scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds before being named the Championship MVP. He showed the ability to score from all over the floor especially from three. Kuzma attempted 50 shots from deep and made 24 of them.
Although it was just Summer League, Kuzma was one of the best performing rookies and certainly was exciting to watch. Especially when finishing at the rim after catching one of Lonzo’s full-court dimes.
After winning the Summer League championship with L.A. and grabbing the championship MVP award, Kuzma got recognition from another championship and Finals MVP winner—Kevin Durant. But even after all of that, the highlight of Kuzma’s week may have been etching a deal with Nike, which he took to Twitter to announce.

Much was made of Kuzma’s teammate Lonzo Ball’s shoe game, and in the midst of all that hype, Kuzma balled every game in the Nike Kobe A.D. With his showing of prolific scoring, highlight plays and championship medal Nike must have smelled a future star.
Kuzma getting a shoe deal as a No.27 pick is unprecedented. But then again the young man put on an absolute show. There is still no word on Lonzo signing a shoe deal with any major brands and maybe Nike’s signing of Kuzma was a way to troll Lonzo just a little. Either way Kuzma is winning and just got a check to prove it.
