Lonzo Ball is the Los Angeles Lakers’ latest No.2 overall pick and he will be teaming up with fellow No.2 pick Brandon Ingram to become an all-star duo of L.A’s future.
The Lakers have already put high expectations on Lonzo Ball that he seems unfazed by and ready to surpass. His teammate, Brandon Ingram, just made the NBA’s All-Rookie Second team and has been working on his game all summer. The two will have a chance to show what their worth in Summer League in Las Vegas, which will mark the first time the two No.2 picks play with one another.
By many accounts Ingram has improved his game just from putting in the work in the offseason. Mike Trudell reported that Brook Lopez is impressed with Ingram’s skill level and Ball already believes his new teammate will be an Superstar in the league.
Lopez has been in for a few workouts already, and told me he was immediately very impressed w/how good Brandon Ingram is.

The feeling is mutual because Ingram complemented Lonzo’s game in an appearance on ESPNLA’s Mason & Ireland. In fact, the two are rumored to already have played pickup ball together. Ball and Ingram’s eagerness to play with on another is a sign of greatness to come. There are no egos in the way. Just two guys who want to play and get better together knowing they are the future of a franchise.

Ingram continually progressed in his rookie year and scored in the double digits in 16 out of his last 17 games of the season. While Ingram is working hard in the gym to improve on his game from last year, Lonzo is coming off an NCAA season where he led a UCLA team to a 31-5 record that was 15-17 the year before. Not only did Ball lead all rookies in assists per game, he led all of Division I basketball in assists and shot over 50% from the field.
Ball and Ingram are All-Stars in the making and together they can be legendary. Much work has to be done for them to reach that point but based on what we’ve seen from them so far the potential for greatness is clear.
