The Los Angeles Dodgers started a four-game series with the New York Mets last night. This is the first time the two teams have met up since the NLDS last season. Scott Kazmir got the start at pitcher for the Dodgers, and right off the bat got behind because of a leadoff homer from Mets’ Curtis Granderson. Kazmir would go on to give up three more runs, but pitched decently despite the four runs given up.
The pitchers in the bullpen didn’t allow any more runs but it was the Dodger bats that could not deliver late in the game. Dodgers’ Trayce Thompson made the game close with a two-run homer but that was all the offense LA would get. The boys in blue had a chance to tack on some runs in the 8th inning with 2-on and 1-out, but couldn’t get it done.
This was a disappointing loss for LA at home. They couldn’t capitalize on opportunities to bring in more runs because they couldn’t find their offensive groove. The upcoming game doesn’t get any easier today as Jacob deGrom opposes Alex Wood. The Dodger bats really need to wake up against a great pitcher in deGrom. The key to tomorrow’s game is definitely how well Wood can limit the Mets hits.
The final score: 4-2 Mets.
Dodgers RBIs: Trayce Thompson 2 (11)
Dodgers Home Runs:Trayce Thompson 1 (3)
