Final Score: 5-0, Dodgers
Clayton Kershaw started for the Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday night with sights set on splitting the series with the New York Mets. Kershaw answered the bell ensuring a Dodgers victory by pitching a three-hit, complete game shut-out. Kershaw was dominant from start to finish, striking out 13 batters while allowing only one walk and no runs scored, and this is the fifth consecutive game where Kershaw has struck out double-digit hitters.
The bats came alive early for LA. Four of the five Dodger runs were scored in the first inning. Chase Utley added to the early onslaught with a solo shot in the second inning, but the offense cooled down afterward and rode Kershaw’s impressive performance to the finish line.
This was a great way for the Dodgers to close out the series with the Mets. Their pitching in every outing was phenomenal. Every starter performed well enough to get a win, and taking two out of four games against a team as good as the Mets was a great result.
LA won’t get to rest for long as the St. Louis Cardinals visit Chavez Ravine tonight. Ross Stripling will get the call for the boys in blue and he’ll be opposing Cardinals’ Michael Wacha.
