The Los Angeles Sparks have clinched a playoff berth with redemption of last year’s WNBA Finals in sight.
The Sparks have made it to the WNBA Finals the last two years and have split titles with the Minnesota Lynx. They have officially clinched a spot back in the playoffs with hopes to make it back to the Finals for a chance to win their second title in three years and the fourth of their franchise.
L.A. is currently third in WNBA standings at 18-11 with five games left in the regular season. They are just one game back of the Atlanta Dream, and with a late-season push could take over as the second seed.
But an even bigger reason for the Sparks to be on their A game is that they are tied with the Washington Mystics and just one game above the Connecticut Sun. A slip up of just one game could easily drop them from third to fifth place.
Although Los Angeles has a return to the Finals in sight, they have a lot of work to do to finish the regular season strong, but at least they’ve earned postseason play.
