Final Score: 6-4, Orioles
The finale between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Baltimore Orioles was played yesterday, and the Dodgers were looking for a bounce-back win after losing on Tuesday. Bud Norris got his second start and did not have a bad outing. He pitched five innings giving up three runs on six hits while walking two and striking out five. Norris left the game leading 4-3 after the Dodgers took the lead in the bottom of the 5th inning.
Casey Fien came in the top of the 6th and allowed a run making it a 4-4 tie. After that, it was a marathon game. Pitching on both sides was solid until Dodgers’ Chris Hatcher pitched in the 14th. Hatcher gave up three hits and two runs putting the game out of reach for L.A.
The Dodgers’ offense squandered opportunity after opportunity. They had a chance to take the lead twice with runners in scoring position and less than two outs but struck out every time. The only Dodgers who had good games were Chase Utley who was 6-for-7 and Adrian Gonzalez who went 3-for-6.
Although the Dodgers lost the series, they showed they could keep up with one of the tougher teams in the league. Hopefully, the Dodgers can rebound against the San Diego Padres this weekend.
Today is the much anticipated return of Hyun-Jin Ryu. Ryu will be up against Padres’ Drew Pomeranz who has been their best pitcher this season.
