Andrew McCutchen Crushes Two Homers Against Dodgers

Final Score: 6-1, Pirates

The Los Angeles Dodgers played the second game of a four-game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday Night. Kenta Maeda started out very well, through the first five innings he only allowed a single run in, a homer to Andrew McCutchen. Then when the 6th inning rolled around he gave up a three-run homer to Cutch again and was pulled. He left the game losing 4-1.

Joe Blanton came in as relief but allowed two more runs that buried the Dodgers even further. The offense didn’t have it Saturday night and the Dodgers went without a hit until a leadoff double from Scott Van Slyke in the 6th followed by an RBI double from AJ Ellis. That would be the only run the Dodgers scored on the night.

The Dodgers did not have the best lineup in last night. Including the pitcher, there were four guys hitting under .200 coming into the game, a questionable call that manager Dave Roberts had them all play on the same day.
Luckily for the Dodgers the San Francisco Giants also lost with Madison Bumgarner on the mound and the Dodgers didn’t fall further behind in the standings. Sunday, the Dodgers will be playing the prime time game and the third game of the series. Clayton Kershaw will be on the mound tonight against Chad Kuhl, making his MLB debut.
