San Diego Padres vs Los Angeles Dodgers Game 1 Recap

Final score: 7-6, Padres

The Los Angeles Dodgers started their series with the San Diego Padres last night. Scott Kazmir got the start for the Dodgers going 5 2/3 innings and allowing five runs. Hits weren’t an issue for Kazmir but he did allow seven walks to put the Padres on base and in scoring position.

The bullpen stepped up for the most part, except for Kenley Jansen. Jansen, who is usually spot on, allowed a two-run walk-off home run to Melvin Upton Jr. that sealed the deal in the 9th inning for L.A.

The Dodgers had more hits and looked better than the Padres but were unable to take advantage and close the game. They left too many guys stranded on base and were unable to score enough runs.

Game Analysis:

Yet again another disappointing loss for the Dodgers. Scott Kazmir could not find the strike zone and allowed more runs off of walks than he allowed hits.

Six runs should have been enough to get a win against a sub .500 team, instead, the Dodgers now fall to 21-22 on the season. Today the Dodgers will get another crack at the Padres as Alex Wood gets the nod.
