The Sparks lose the Finals but the WNBA’s best rivalry continues

The Los Angeles Sparks lost to the Minnesota Lynx in Game 5 of the WNBA Finals.

The WNBA season is over but it was a hell of a ride led by the Sparks and the Lynx. The two teams met in the WNBA Finals for a second-straight year and the series lived up to the hype.

Game 1 and Game 2 were decided by a total of three points as each team notched a win. L.A. won the pivotal Game 3 at home and seemed like they were going to run away with the chip.

However, Minnesota had other plans and came away with a Game 4 win to send the Finals back to their house.

Game 5 the Lynx got their revenge over the Sparks who won the Finals in Game 5 last season.

Although L.A. couldn’t complete the repeat, they took part in a much-needed rivalry for the WNBA.

The Lynx won their 4th title in seven years and proved to be a true dynasty.

This series makes next season that much more exciting. Chances are with the team leaders from both squads returning, L.A. and Minnesota should be favorites to make it back to the Finals for a third-consecutive rematch.

The Sparks-Lynx rivalry can be to the WNBA what the Warriors-Cavaliers rivalry is to the NBA.

If people aren’t watching the WNBA, they’re missing out on L.A. vs Minnesota–the second-best rivalry in basketball.

The Sparks’ season ends bittersweet but that should make them hungry for their own revenge next season, so stay tuned.
