The Los Angeles Sparks extended their win streak to three with a dominant win over the Dallas Wings at home.
The Sparks got off to an early lead against the Wings behind the defense of guard Odyssey Sims and the offense of Candace Parker. Sims, who is coming off a season-high 22 points against the San Antonio Stars, had two early steals and three assists in the first quarter. Parker, who’s coming off a historic triple-double, dropped in 12 points in the first by taking advantage of the high-low game with Nneka Ogwumike.
L.A.’s dominance pushed them to a ten point lead after the first quarter 30-20.

Fouls got the Sparks into trouble in the second quarter, which gave the Wings free shots at the line, but L.A. withstood Dallas’ surge and went into the locker rooms ahead 49-42.
In the third the Sparks picked up right where they left off with a quick bucket from Parker, and assist from Sims to Alana Beard and a shot at the rim by Ogwumike forcing the Wings into an early timeout.
The third quarter proved to be Parker and Ogwumike’s who were dominant around the rim. By the end of the quarter Ogwumike had 20 points and Parker had a double-double. The Sparks were also given a boost by guard Chelsea Gray who ended the third with 13 points of her own.
L.A. pulled away in the second half going up by as many as 24. Dallas’ Achilles heel proved to be points in the paint as the Sparks scored 66 to the Wings’ 20. Final score Sparks 95, Wings 74.
Parker ended the game with 23 points, ten rebounds and five assists, Ogwumike had 22 points and seven rebounds and Gray had 16 points and seven rebounds.
The win against Dallas puts L.A. at 17-6 on the season. Their next game will be at home against the New York Liberty Friday, August 4, at 7:30 p.m.
