Warriors’ JaVale McGee and Nick Young team up at the Drew League

The Golden State Warriors are the best team in the NBA that just got better by re-signing big man JaVale McGee and acquiring veteran guard NIck Young. The two teamed in the Drew League and gave fans an early preview of what’s to come.

The Drew League has been around for over 40 years. The Drew is home to high school and college prospects and NBA hopefuls who were never drafted. But over the last several years it’s become a popular summer destination for NBA stars to stay in shape with some friendly competition and put on a show for locals who couldn’t afford to see them play otherwise.

Ex-NBA players are regulars, like Baron Davis, and the Drew League has previously hosted NBA champs Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson. This season at the Drew, big names like Lou Williams, Julius Randle, DeMar DeRozan, James Harden and Chris Paul blessed the league with their presence. Fans also got a little taste of what it will be like when new, and old, teammates Nick Young and JaVale McGee join forces with the Warriors.

McGee was a part of Golden State’s championship run and re-signed on a veteran minimum to return to the dubs, while Young signed a one-year $5.2 million deal to join the title defenders. The two were teammates once upon a time for the Washington Wizards and before they step foot on the court together as Warriors, they made sure to get in some reps together as teammates in the Drew League.

McGee and Young played for the Most Hated Players squad at Drew that beat their opponents, the Bulldogs,  90-79. McGee scored 24 points on 10-of-18 shooting and Young dropped 17 on 5-of-12 shooting.

One thing for certain is that with these two on one team there will never be a dull moment. Here’s a sneak peek at what a JaVale and Swaggy combination will look like this season in the NBA.
