Yasmani Grandal’s Three Homers Lift Dodgers Over Padres

Final Score: 10-6, Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres faced off Friday with a matchup between Scott Kazmir and Andrew Cashner. Kazmir didn’t last very lost, he threw 85 pitches through three innings and was pulled in the bottom of the 3rd inning for a pinch hitter. Kazmir finished his night having gone three innings, allowing three runs on six hits while walking three and striking out five. Kazmir left the game winning but didn’t go the required five innings.

Louis Coleman allowed three more runs but the bullpen held strong after that. J.P. Howell, Pedro Baez Joe Blanton and Kenley Jansen all had scoreless frames and the Dodgers held on to win.

The big story in this game was not the pitching, however. Yasmani Grandal went off Friday night, going 5-5 with three home runs, two singles and six RBIs. Justin Turner and Howie Kendrick also homered and four Dodgers, including Grandal, had multi-hit games.

The offense went off Friday after a very poor performance Thursday night. Grandal got his average over .200 and hopefully this performance builds his confidence at the plate. The Dodgers continue the series today with Brandon McCarthy making his second start since coming off the DL against Padres Luis Perdomo.

Yasmani Grandal 6 (37)
